Mortification Scale: 1 Tomato Face- 1 TF for being a mystery anthology
- There should be one for the cover and the title, except that I think they're hysterically funny
- Loads of entertainment
- Some laugh out loud stories
- Extremely creative mother- and daughter-in-law revenge plots
Synopsis:
Thirteen original murder mystery short stories, starting with a redneck story of con-artists in the South, and ending with a sweet story about a mother in old-time Chicago protecting her children against the world. My absolute favorite was How to Murder Your Mother-in-Law by Suzann Ledbetter, mostly because the mother-in-law was without redeeming characteristics and the protagonist was charming. That story was the real stand-out for me. Others were a bit more creative plot wise, especially The Next-Door Collector by Elizabeth Massie and GDMFSOB by Nevada Barr. This is in no way a groundbreaking collection . It did teach me that snake plants are poisonous to cats which is valuable knowledge since I am a cat lover. No knowledge is ever wasted! Great beach or bus reading.
